Beauty Can Come From The Struggle

I know many of you will think I’m corny for admitting this, but there was a scene in the movie, “You’ve Got Mail” that helped shape me as a business person. To inspire Meg Ryan’s character, Tom Hanks’ character quotes from The Godfather, “It’s not personal, it’s business. It’s not personal it’s business.” and Meg Ryan’s character responds: “What is that supposed to mean? I am so sick of that. All that means is that it wasn’t personal to you. But it was personal to me. It’s ‘personal’ to a lot of people. And what’s so wrong with being personal, anyway? … Whatever else anything is, it ought to begin by being personal.”

I’ve recently rebranded Fresh Picked Jewels using the lotus flower in my logo and as you may have guessed, it’s personal to me. The lotus flower grows through the muck and gunk that surrounds it and emerges as a beautiful flower. The lotus flower reminds me that beauty can come from the struggle and that the seed of potential can be buried in the most unlikely places.
